Student / Young People’s Counselling

Unfortunately increasing numbers of students and adolescents are developing depression and anxiety each year. The pressures and responsibilities upon our young people are increasing with the realities and demands of modern life. Under the age of 20 years adolescents and children do not have the same levels of emotional resilience as adults and this can lead to impulsive actions and tragic events. This makes student and adolescent counselling very necessary in this age of ever increasing social, academic and family pressures. We adopt a positive solution-focused approach to helping students and young people make changes in their lives and thought processes and empower them with healthy coping strategies and increased resilience. We do this through a relaxed conversational approach which is a highly effective and engaging strategy.

We help clients with problems of exam stress, undeveloped emotional resilience, parental pressure to achieve, career choices, substance abuse, first romantic contact, disciplinary problems at school or college, identifying learning difficulties and referring to appropriate specialist, how to say no to drugs and other damaging behaviours, dealing with peer pressure, peer relationships, independence versus dependence upon family, how to find your own voice and make choices which are right for you. Still growing and developing, important to work on stressors which could cause longstanding emotional and behavioural difficulties.

We help clients with:
